The university has a staff count of more than 3,000 and around 17,500 registered students.\u00a0Durham regularly appears in the top ten of The Complete University Guide league table and is ranked a world top 100 university by QS World University Rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>Centre for Particle Theory<\/h1>\n<p>SAGEX researchers in Durham are based at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dur.ac.uk\/cpt\/\">Centre for Particle Theory<\/a> (CPT), one of the largest particle theory groups in the UK. The CPT\u00a0has won an international reputation for its research, and it unites the theoretical particle physics groups in the Physics and Mathematics Departments.<\/p>\n<p>The centre provides a critical mass of research excellence and aims to foster research into all aspects of theoretical particle physics, ranging from phenomenology to string theory and cosmology, and to educate the next generation of theoretical particle physicists with a comprehensive and in-depth lecture programme and PhD supervision in all areas of the subject.
