SAGEX role:
beneficiary.

The CEA is the French Atomic and Alternative Energy Commission (Commissariat à l’énergie atomique). A leader in research, development and innovation, the CEA aims to become the leading technological research organisation in Europe.

Institute of Theoretical Physics

The Institute of Theoretical Physics (IPhT) is part of the Fundamental Research Division (DRF) of the CEA. It is likewise a joint laboratory (UMR 3681) of the French National Institute of Scientific Research (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique or CNRS). Research activities at the IPhT cover a wide domain: fundamental forces, from the early universe to particle physics; string theory; integrable systems; statistical mechanics and non-equilibrium systems; complex systems and biophysics; and condensed-matter physics and quantum systems. They also include work on the wide range of mathematical formalisms needed to describe these areas of physics.

The Amplitudes group at the IPhT lies at the interface of particle physics and string theory. Our current research activities include the study of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, algebraic geometry of Feynman integrals, techniques for next-to-next-to-leading order calculations in QCD, and applications of amplitudes methods to gravitational-wave physics.
